Thank you for supporting THE CONTINUED PRODUCTION OF THE GOOD FOOD CFO PODCAST

As a former Food Business Founder I know that good advice is hard to find, and even harder to afford. We created The Good Food CFO to be the go-to source for free information and low cost tools and resources to truly help you build a financially successful good food business and change our food industry for the better.

The Good Food CFO is an independent media company whose mission is to educate and inform (and hopefully entertain every now & then)
through our Weekly Podcast, Newsletter and YouTube news segments and provide education and support through our Coaching Services and Online Tools.

We are a lean, bootstrapped business that was launched with, and to date primarily operates on, proceeds from Sarah Delevan Consulting (our sister company).

I am so proud of the number of founders we have been able to reach, and all that we have been able to accomplish with our tiny budget. But, we want to do more - we want to reach 1 million food founders! It will take time, resources and a marketing budget.

What is a BABOYOT?

BABOYOT = Building a Business On Your Own Terms

It’s an energy. And you’ve got it when you’re making decisions and taking action in your business that are uniquely connected and aligned to your mission and vision.

In CPG, there is a strong influence from traditional business media, social media, VC funding circles, and more that have left Founders asking “what am I doing wrong? why can’t I make this business work?”.

I believe this influence is the leading cause of more than 50% of food businesses failing within 5 years of launch. And I know that if we’re going to change our food industry, we need good food businesses to last, and we need them to thrive financially.

Where did the term come from?
From the beginning of The Good Food CFO podcast, in January of 2020, we have had “BABOYOT” episodes. The first was episode 11 with Amos Valenit of Pittston Ketchup, and we’ve aired 25 episodes (and counting) since that have explored the different ways that good food founders are building businesses on their own terms.

In 2022, during a company retreat in Joshua Tree, The Good Food CFO evolved from a podcast to a full on movement. Everything we talked about was centered on helping founders build a business on their own terms. In fact, it dominated so much of our conversation that we coined the term “BABOYOT” and we’ve used it internally ever since.
